Seth N. Eastman, the son of Bernard and Hannah (Weed) Eastman, was born in Topsham, Vermont on August 4, 1843. He enlisted in Company B, Sixth Vermont Regiment on September 26, 1861. He was wounded in the leg at Savage's Station on June 29, 1862 and was taken prisoner. He was sent to Libby Prison and then to Belle Isle, and was paroled on and discharged October 28, 1864.
